Hey Beauties!

You know I love a good and easy nail trend and that's why I'm excited to bring you the BLUSH Lacquers take on lip gloss nails! I've got three easy to create looks all perfect for showing off this delicate and sophisticated manicure. They can all be created with two nail polishes or less and 2 coats of nail polish or less for an easy, breezy, put together manicure.

What Are Lip Gloss Nails?

Lip gloss nails are basically a high-shine, ultra glossy sheer nude, neutral toned or pale pink manicure that mimics the look of lip gloss. And no, we won't be putting actual lip gloss on our nails to achieve this! Lip gloss nails are spring's version of glazed donut nails (a trend I'm still loving!) but it uses more nude and pink tones and less shimmer and chrome, though a bit of shimmer is still acceptable. In addition to a high-shine glossy finish, lip gloss nails are also known for having a plump gel-like look to them even though you do not need to use gel nail polish or a UV light to cure them.

How To Create Lip Gloss Nails

When I first heard about lip gloss nails, I knew I had to try them. They are right up my alley with their soft sheer neutral shades and high gloss shine. The problem was, that our BLUSH Lacquers catalog didn't contain any colors that really suited this trend. What resulted in my quest for the perfect lip gloss nails was the Prima Ballerina collection. 'Pirouette' and 'Powder Puff' are perfect for base colors or to be worn alone for that soft neutral lip gloss look.

The formula for creating lip gloss nails is simple. You want your favorite base coat, a nice sheer nail polish in a neutral, nude or pale pink tone and a high gloss, high-shine top coat. For your nail polish, choose colors that mimic shades of lip gloss and that have a sheer quality to them. For even more options, check out our jelly nail polishes. You do not want a full coverage nail polish for this look.

While we don't have a glossy top coat in our catalog right now, we recommend using a gel-finish top coat like Essie Gel Setter Top Coat. This is a nail polish top coat that gives a gel-like finish to your manicure without having to use a UV light to cure it (it dries normally like any regular nail polish top coat). It will give you a high gloss finish and a nice plump look to your manicure, just like a good lip gloss!

Now that you have the basics, let's look at 3 different ways you can wear lip gloss nails with BLUSH Lacquers!

Level up your lip gloss nails by tinting them with another jelly nail polish! You can easily fine tune the look or create a totally new color of lip gloss nails by layering a translucent jelly nail polish over your neutral, nude or pinky toned sheer nail polish. It will make the nails a little brighter and you'll have an extra layer or plumpness and gloss by adding a jelly nail polish topper to the mix.
